Arlene called me from Key West Wednesday night. I had received a postcard from her Saturday– just to let me have her address there and to let me now that she was there and OK. A very nice thing seems to have happened. Patricia, the Direct Mail Manager from Garfinckel’s, just resigned to move to Key West and offered me a job there. If a move for me were logical at all right now I would have considered it. But it isn’t so I thanked her and said I would try to get there soon and talk about the job. (Keep those options open). Then I realized what a perfect setup this would be for Arlene. I’m sure that the company that Patricia is going to work for– Key West Fragrances, Inc.– operates on such a small scale that they really would not need anyone with my background. Arlene is perfect for the job. So I told Patricia about Arlene, gave her her address and then wrote a letter to Arlene telling her about it. The phone call was to let me know that Patricia had gotten in touch with her and she was going yesterday to formally apply for the job. I hope she gets it.
