Arlene listens to my weariness with my incomplete life– my need for a lover. Her theory is that whoring can result in one of two attitudes. Either it scars you– and you do it for the rest of your life– or else the experiences are useful to you as a means of discovering your own needs. It sensitized you to what you really want.

I have had my haircut changed drastically. Last week I went to Dick at Garfinkel’s with a photograph of a high fashion combed back curly hairstyle on a really hunky man. Anyway, he cut mine that way and I don’t suddenly look like the man in the picture.
