Isn’t this the memory that I will cherish most of all– this: late night, ready for bed, Sadie has been walked and I decide to hit Ty’s for one drink. Dennis, oh, sexy Dennis, can anyone, can I be your lover? I stand at the end of the bar and Dennis buys me drinks and the roomful of people seems insignificant. This is a neighborhood bar, and I am a neighbor. I am standing there with gym shorts under my jeans and every number on earth comes on to me. All the way from a sexy blonde god from Hungary to some guy who groans when I pass him. I meet Grady, the older guy who is always there and who is treated with so much difference. Oh no, I do not want a lover. This apartment is a new beginning and a new world and I will not give up. And now I am home and Mary Tyler Moore is on television and I am completely happy. Tomorrow I diet. Finally I am beginning to get this all figured out.
