Sitting on the front steps outside my apartment waiting for Kelly to pick me up. She’s having me over for dinner. Sitting in bright blasts of sunlight. This cast on my leg has become the bane of my life. I am hobbling along now without the crutches. Not really walking. Just slowly hobbling from point to point. Drinking orange juice and watching Sadie bake herself in the sun with her nose in the air sniffing. People and children are all over the neighborhood. A young girl a few houses away from me sits on her front stoop too and bounces a baby on her knee.
